Africa Safari Lodge next stop for gravel and dirt series

The fourth leg of the Gravel and Dirt MTB Series powered by Hollard will take place place on 1 July in Mariental.

This year’s event will play host to two brand new elements, namely the addition of a 10km run for those avid trail runners, as well as a brand new route for the 80km MTB cyclists.

The terrain itself proved to be the undoing of many a cyclist in last year’s event, so much so that it was decided to revisit the drawing board to find a more cycle friendly route, by no means less of a challenge, simply taking into consideration that MTB bikes to not boast an impressive 4×4 gear and unbreakable frame.

The new route will offer the same challenges that the riders faced in last year’s event, but with a lot more finesse. The Gravel Dirt/Africa Safari Lodge Ride is known as the race with the best after-party, and this year will be no exception to the rule.

With the inclusion of the 10km X-trail run, the event will take on a whole new dynamic. Through catering for different extreme sports enthusiasts in Namibia, Gravel and Dirt strives to see the local athletes grow to become world class competitors, lifting the bar of professionalism in Namibia and putting our beautiful country on the map as one of Africa’s prime destinations for all MTB as well as trial runners.

The next two races on the calendar is the Ugab Terrace XCM, 22 July, which will take place at Sophienhof Lodge, followed by the MTB Dirt Attack on the 29 July 2017 just outside of Okahandja.
