Eduardao Lafforgue to head NOTL Chamber of Commerce

After 18 years there’s going to be a new hand at the helm of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce.

In April, longtime chamber president Janice Thomson announced she would be leaving the post, taking on a new role as CEO of Niagara Falls Tourism. Now the NOTL chamber has announced it has found her replacement in Eduardo Lafforgue.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is competing for the top positions against the best wine tourism destinations in the world, the unique combination of natural sceneries, unique products, heritage, culture and a friendly, open population gives this town a special pole position in the tourism race,” Lafforgue said in a press release this week.

Scheduled to begin June 17, Lafforgue brings with him considerable experience in the marketing and tourism development sector, most recently as CEO of Headwaters Tourism.

The new president is no stranger to the world stage either. He worked in Europe, starting in 2004 as vice-president of acquisitions for Intrawest before moving on to direct more than 80 tourism marketing and development projects for locations such as Libourne-St. Emilion in France; the Lefkadia Wine and Wellness Valley in Russia; Barcelona; le Grand Evreux Agglomeration; Antigua and Barbuda; and St. Lucia.

“I am thrilled to be joining the business community of Niagara-on-the-Lake,” he said.
