Broncos’ Will Parks fined $9115 for unnecessary roughness penalty
Broncos safety Will Parks was fined $9,115 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Bills in Week 3, according to the Denver Post’s Nick Jhabvala.
That’s approximately 1.7 percent of Park’s base salary of $540,000 this season, according to Spotrac.com, a website that tracks contracts in professional sports. Park’s four-year deal is worth $2,440,356, with base salaries of $630,000 in 2018 and $720,000 in 2019.
Parks (6-1, 208 pounds) is not a starter but he’s seen an expanded role on defense this year after Denver released veteran T.J. Ward before their season opener. The second-year safety played 27 defensive snaps in Buffalo and 26 special teams snaps.
The Broncos selected Parks in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of Arizona. After serving mostly on special teams as a rookie, Parks is now the team’s No. 3 safety behind starters Darian Stewart and Justin Simmons.
Parks, 23, has recorded seven tackles this season. He recorded 22 tackles and one interception as a rotational player in 2016.
