Temple to host ‘Rocky’ workout on famed steps of Philly museum
It may not be Rome, but Temple is trying to offer players and fans a unique experience as the Owls plan to hold a ‘Rocky’-themed workout similar to the one featured in the classic 1976 Sylvester Stallone movie.
Players will follow the lead of “the most iconic Philadelphia champion, boxer Rocky Balboa” by incorporating running up the steps of the Art Museum in an iconic scene made famous by the boxing movie.
The team expects to arrive Wednesday at 8 a.m. ET for a one-hour workout and following the workout, players will hang around for photos and autographs.
“Rocky” is a movie about a small-time boxer from Philly who beats the odds when he gets a chance to fight for the heavyweight championship.
Temple is coming off a 10-win season, one in which the Owls captured the American Athletic Conference title. In the offseason, Matt Rhule left to take the head coaching job at Baylor leaving the school to hire former Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins.
The team returns just eight starters and features a much tougher schedule in 2017.
