Paris, Berlin to Introduce Several Joint Initiatives to UN Security Council – Ministry

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, will submit several joint initiatives to the UN Security Council (UNSC) during Le Drian’s visit to New York on March 28-April 2 on the occasion of France‘s presidency of the council, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday
PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – 01st March, 2019) French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, will submit several joint initiatives to the UN Security Council (UNSC) during Le Drian’s visit to New York on March 28-April 2 on the occasion of France‘s presidency of the council, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
Friday, March 1, marked the beginning of France‘s presidency of the UNSC, which will then pass to Germany in April.
“France and Germany will take advantage of a Calendar in which they will successively hold the Security Council presidency in March and April by introducing several joint initiatives that will be presented by both foreign ministers, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Heiko Maas, during their visit to New York,” the statement said.
The statement also noted that Le Drian’s upcoming visit to New York would aim to underscore France‘s commitment to a number of priorities, including fight against the financing of terrorism, support for peacekeeping, and respect for international humanitarian law.
