Pageant organizers address critics of Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines

One of the organizers of the annual Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines 2018 beauty contest has said that the candidates in this year’s pageant competed fair and square as she addressed bashers of the competition.

“Some people may not be happy with the results of the competition. All I can say is that there were no irregularities during the contest,” said Mrs. Asia Pacific Tourism 2018 Grand Winner Mitzie Go-Gil, also national director of the national search, during a press conference held at a hotel in Makati City recently.

Gil added: “In every contest, we know that everybody cannot be a winner. There will be losers and winners. I’m not perfect. I hope you bear with me because this is my first project. I admit that our group has learned our lessons and we are addressing it. We promise to give you better and bigger Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines pageant in the future.”

In order to appease some of the complaining candidates, the beauty queen-philanthropist showed the judges pageant score sheets to some of the girls last Feb. 7. “I can always show these score sheets to the other candidates if they want to.”

Aside from the candidates, the same pageant score sheets were shown to one of the judges in the finals, a media man, an account executive, and other guests. The other candidates have scheduled a meeting with Gil for a view of the pageant score sheets.

With clarifications made during the media’s open forum, Gil said that she is hopeful the issues thrown against the pageant will not be put to an end.

Gil, who is also chairwoman of the Queen of Hearts Foundation, said that she is happy with the results of the competition.

The winners were: Ma. Llhena Tan-Arcenas, of Cainta Rizal, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Worldwide 2019; Irene Montemayor, Quezon City, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Global Universe 2019; Avon Morales, Paranaque City, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Global 2019; Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las, North Cotabato, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines All Nation 2019; Marjorie Orito, Olongapo City, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Tourism; Glynes Evangelista Olbes, Taytay, Rizal, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Intercontinental 2019; and Mary Chris Abacahin-Camacho, Tacloban City, Mrs. Asia Pacific Philippines Cosmopolitan 2019.
