Applewood Books publishes four national parks books to inspire future generations
Carlisle, Massachusetts (PRWEB) April 05, 2016
Applewood Books, publishers of adult and children’s books for travelers to American cultural, historic, and natural attractions, announced today a licensing agreement with the National Park Foundation for four books Applewood is publishing in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Through this collection, Applewood Books is proud to support the ongoing work of the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks. These four books will proudly display the National Park Foundation logo, along with the logos of the Find Your Park/Encuentra Tu Parque movement and the National Park Service Centennial.
Two of the books—Hello, National Parks! and Journey Around Our National Parks—are aimed at teaching children and are authored and illustrated by Massachusetts best-selling author/illustrator Martha Day Zschock. A former elementary school teacher, Ms. Zschock has written and published many books for children about regions across the country. Hello, National Parks!, her newest board book, is suitable for children ages 2-5. This early reader brings to our youngest readers a sense of delight in our national parks. Journey Around Our National Parks is is aimed at the fourth-grader, but is suitable for children ages 6 and up. This alphabetical journey through the interpretations of our parks, published under Applewood’s Commonwealth Editions imprint, gives the young arm-chair traveler a comprehensive tour of our national parks and public lands, while teaching vital lessons about the role of the national parks and their importance in preserving the past and ensuring the future.
In addition to these two important children’s books, Applewood Books will also be issuing a commemorative quotation book, Our National Parks, filled with inspirational quotes from exceptional people instrumental in building and preserving our natural, cultural and historic treasures for all to enjoy.
The fourth book, the National Parks Puzzle Book, aimed at educating middle-school children and curious adults will be published through Applewood’s Grab a Pencil Press imprint.
“We are delighted to work with the National Park Foundation to bring to children and adults American-written and American-manufactured books that tell the story of America’s public lands,” said Applewood founder and president Phil Zuckerman. “Since our founding in 1976, we have been committed to publish books about America, its people, its places, and its history. Inspired by a love of history and nature, we are honored now to pay tribute and give back to our nation’s parks.”
“Applewood Books’ new national park-themed books are great examples of the countless ways there are to find your park,” said Stefanie Mathew, vice president of corporate partnerships at the National Park Foundation. “From an alphabetical journey to thought-provoking quotes, Applewood Books is inspiring people of all ages to discover their own unique connections to America’s natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history, and helping to grow the community of park stewards and supporters.”
