A World War II veteran tries to make his mark as a painter in newly-liberated Paris, where he meets a mysterious young Parisian ballet dancer with a haunting secret in An American in Paris (music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, inspired by the Gene Kelly-Leslie Caron film). Frank exhibit, play
“Anne Frank — A History for Today,” a touring exhibit that tells the story of Frank, her Jewish family and friends and the horrors of the Holocaust, on loan from the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, will be on display Monday-Feb. 21 in the lobby of the Reynolds Performance Hall, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The exhibit consists of photographs and text (English and Spanish) on large, freestanding panels. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Feb. 17 and 21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday and Feb. 18-20 and 1-4 p.m. Feb. 16.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the National Players will stage The Diary of Anne Frank, in a new theatrical adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, 6 p.m. Feb. 18 in Reynolds Performance Hall. The play contains mature content, including violence, adult language and sexual references and is intended for a mature audience. Tickets are $10. Fingerstyle guitarists

Jazz singer Jaimee Paul and her husband, trumpeter Leif Shires, will perform an evening of love songs for the concert half of a Valentine’s dinner and concert, Tuesday at Harding University in Searcy, with dinner at 5:30 p.m. in Cone Chapel of the David B. Burks American Heritage Building (907 E. Market Ave,) and the concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium (908 E. Park Ave.). Rogers exhibit
“Reflections of the Black Experience,” including artworks by Brian Elenbarger, Marzelle Williams, Gregory Janicke, Nick Palmer and Leona Hunter-Wade, covering the black American diaspora to the modern-day black experience in America, opens with a reception at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Rogers Experimental House, 121 W. Walnut St., Rogers, during the “Art on the Bricks” Art Walk. Arkansas Arts Academy fifth- and sixth-grade students will perform at 4:45 p.m.
The exhibit, curated by Kinya Christian, features visual excerpts of the 1619 Project, led by Nikole Hannah-Jones with The New York Times, Feb. 29-March 31, into the Trammel Gallery at the Rogers Historical Museum‘s Hailey Building, 313 S. Second St., Rogers. An artist talk-back will take place there at 11 a.m. Feb. 29.
